STROWGER MULTI-SELECTOR, 1950's

Multi selector for use in large Private Automatic Exchanges (PAX)
David Williams has written in with the following.
This is a 2 motion, 100 outlet selector made by Siemens and as it has 6 relays it is probably a final selector. This was used in main exchanges from the 50's but it may also have been used in the larger PABX's. It was mainly used in Europe and was known as both the S22 and the P51 system in different countries.

Your comments:

  • This is a Siemens and Halske 2 motion, 100 outlet selector that was developed in the 1950's as a compact version of the selector designs in use at this time. As this one has 6 relays it was probably a final selector. This design was mainly used in main exchanges but it may also have been used in larger PABX's. It was mainly used in Europe and was known as both the S22 and the P51 systems in different countries.

  • It may be a type of Keith Line switch in use in Portsmouth main exchange up until 1958
