- I have a wireless set given to me by an old neighbour , very similar to this .. he told me it was purchased , mail order , from London ., as a kit , and he and his mate put it together .
He found it when clearing out the coal shed , beneath the pile of slack , in a sack !
It was the first valve radio in my village , so to me quite important .
I cleaned it up , checked the two valves , made up a DC power supply , put a 1.5 volt battery on to the heater circuit , attatched an aerial and headphones ..... and it worked perfectly .....
The clarity of BBC Radio 4 had to be heard to be belived .

- I have two variants of the Brandes 2 set, both with timber front panels. One is a darker wood (possibly stained oak) and the other a lighter mahogany finish. They both have a central brass escutcheon around the twin edge tuning knobs
