Standard GPO Telephone Kiosk contents with a 200 series Bakelite telephone and 1960's back board.

This is a payphone used in public phone boxes, first made by the Hall Telephone Accessories Company.
These A & B coin units were first built around 1935, finally being replaced in the 1970’s and 80’s by the CT1 and CT3 models. During there life time they were modified for all types of coins depending on the area of use and types of coin of the period. Decimalization took place in 1971 and all figure numbering started in 1966.

This item can be demonstrated.

  • As A child of 1940's and 1950's I would always try pressing button B when passing a telephone kiosk, just in case someone had forgotten to retrieve their coins. Occassionally I was lucky!
