DECCA PORTABLE REFLECTOR GRAMOPHONE, 1920's

This type of gramophone was a favourite with Officers during the First World War.

There have been many reports of Officers enjoying records behind the lines and some units have been found with bullet damage.

  • At last! I have spent many hours trying to find the origin and date of one of my most treasured wind-up record players. My Decca is identical to the one in the photograph. About five years ago I became interested in the older (30s) 78s records which I played on my electric Marconiphone record player. I soon decided that I should play these older 78s on a more appropriate 'wind-up' gramophone. At that time I was just looking for a wind-up gramophone that would work! By chance, the first one I bought was the one in your photograph! It is in very good condition and plays well. I have two additional. later, wind up gramophones (other makes) but the 'Decca Portable Reflector Gramophone' is my favourite! I love it even more now knowing the history. Regards.
