SERVICE MEDALS RELATING TO LOUIS RODOLPH CASS 1915-2016, circa 1945

Memorabilia and medals relating to Louis Rodolph Cass, RAF service No 957403, who served in Kenya during the Second World War 1939-1945. These were automatically issued on request after serving longer than one day in any of the services. Also in the frame is his Silk Hanky, Cap badge, and a lapel badge of the union flag, together with his photo. The picture was taken on his trip up Mount Kilimanjaro during 1942 whilst stationed nearby, these days any person wishing to climb this mountain (almost 20,000 feet above sea level) will need a permit or go with a tour guide and would need to be in good health near the last 1000 feet due to the thin air. Louis did it in 1942 and found it difficult, and not for the faint hearted.
