RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS

Introduction

The museum is rapidly developing our services for schools:

Loan Boxes

New and Old Loan Box
New and Old - Comparing Technology
Contents of WWII Box 2
WWII Loan Box 2
Contents of WWII Box 1
WWII Loan Box 1

In our experience, being able to touch, feel, and in some cases smell the artefacts encourages debate and a greater understanding of how people managed during the Second World War and of how technology developed.

Supported by a grant from the Museums Luton Hub and Hertfordshire Museums Small Grants scheme, funded by the Renaissance East of England, the museum has been able to put together three Loan Boxes.

The contents of these boxes along with photos of each item can be seen by clicking the captions or the pictures to the right.

If you would like to borrow  Loan Boxes please get in touch with the museum curator, Rosie Hourihane, on 01442 218381 or 01442 262541. A deposit of £20 will be charged for the hire..

Depending on the uptake, a period of 2 weeks hire is envisaged. A list of items in each box will need to be signed for on hiring and will be checked on return. Terms and Conditions are shown on the booking form.

.Other Herts museums offer loan boxes. For details download the Herts Museums Brochure

E2BN Gallery

The museum has a gallery on the  E2BN website which contains a number of technology based  images relating to aspects of the National Curriculum

The galleries include:

The galleries are a safe place where teachers and children can search or browse and can download high quality images for use in their projects. The images are a quality which allows them to be projected or used on Interactive Whiteboards.

Visits to the Museum

We are happy to accept school visits to our museum but, owing to the size of our galleries, there is a limit of 10 children who should be accompanied by a minimum of 3 adults.

We can  demonstrate some of our more exciting exhibits to the children and allow them to handle some of the objects.

So that we can plan your visit and discuss what the children should see and handle we recommend a pre-visit. Please contact  the museum curator, Rosie Hourihane on 01442 218381 or 01442 262541
