FIVE EXPERIMENTAL UNITS USING TRANSISTORS, circa 1950

Five experimental units using very early transistors to form a circuit with Feroxcube tuning coils. There is one unit on a PCB and four units assembled using Perspex, however two are identical so in effect there are only three different units. This period is when STC was making the first transistor in the UK in the laboratories at Illminster in Somerset See Item A1427.
The first unit at the back of the image consists of, three prototype transistors mounted on a SRBP printed circuit board with three Feroxcube pot cores and variable capacitors, and early resistors and capacitors.
The units on the left have two prototype transistors a transformer and associated components mounted between two Acrylic sheets.
The two units on the right have three prototype transistors and three Feroxcube pot cores variable capacitors and associated components.
